Initially, I thought that I had reviewed virtually every type of flashlight that interested me – then, along comes the Laysun light, or should I say “lights” or, arguably better yet – “light system”. This particular system comes in a very nice, semi-hard case and essentially consists of a handle with a rechargeable battery, charging port with indicator, and a controller; a zoomable flashlight head; an area light head; and a flexible gooseneck light head, all of which can be affixed with a quick connect. The handle and all components seem to be well-designed, well-made, and heavy duty. This is truly a remarkable light system and, if it lasts, will be very close to perfect. This is a truly remarkable lighting system. What is even more exciting is that, according to the Laysun Store, the manufacturer seems to be considering selling additional heads that include a floodlight, fan, electric mill (drill or some small power tool?), and an electric mixer (whisk). I do not believe I have ever seen a light that is so thoughtfully designed to meet nearly all of my lighting needs.
PROS
• Seems to be a very well-designed, well-built, heavy duty light system comprising a zoomable flashlight, an area light, and a flexible gooseneck light all contained with a semi-hard, zippered case (complete with finger holes to facilitate removing the various components.
• All light “heads” can connect to the handle containing the battery, charging port, and control button with a quick connect.
• The rechargeable battery can be quickly removed and replaced with a compatible rechargeable battery.
• As the manufacturer says “[a]ll three heads support 3 brightness modes, high-mid- low, Flash, SOS, Tactical control” – I could not have said it better; however, I did have to look up “tactical control” in the manual. This simply means the light will only come on only when the user keeps pressing the button.
• All 3 light heads “remember” the brightness setting (high-mid-low) used on the handle.
• Easy-to-remember 3-clicks activates SOS (• • • – – – • • •) on all three light heads.
• With some adjustment, the folding area light will remain upright even with the light at a 90° angle to the handle and it becomes more stable as the angle becomes obtuse (i.e., >90° but <180°); and, because of the magnet, the system is quite stable on a ferrous metal surface.
• The manual is clearly written and provides the information a user needs to work this light system.
CONS
• The only “con” I could come up with is the fact that you need to practice activating the tactical mode because you can easily activate SOS instead; and, remember to wait for the two confirming flashes when activating or deactivating the tactical mode.
I got it fast. It's a very nice bright light set for multi uses. I would buy from LaySun again. Thanks !
